Zines & Artist Books
Zine are one of my first loves! Everything about them appeals to me, the DIY aspect, the punk history, they are freedom in every way and they are places I’ve had a lot of fun! Here’s a list of my zines, you can view most of them in the National Irish Visual Arts Library at the National College of Art & Design.

Purple Sunset Parade Handmade zine of colour photocopies. Brown and black card, bound with twine. Colour photos and text. 50 copies made. A per-zine of wondering and thoughts. Copyright 2009.
Letter to the Past #7 Black and white photocopied pages of darkroom photographic prints and text. Blue embossed card cover, bound with twine. 20 copies made. This zine is based on a letter received to Letterbox Dublin under the theme "Letters to the Past". Letterbox Dublin is an interactive street art project by Sarah Bracken.
Letter to the Past #1 Artist book based on a letter to the past sent to the Letterbox Dublin Project. Only 1 book made. Brown card, tracing paper, cream card. Colour prints of video installation stills from film made inspired by the same letter.
Rag 'n' Bone Memoirs Handmade zine of collages and stories. Brown card embosssed cover, hand typed title, embroidered poppy inset. Colour photocopy pages of artwork and collages, sown by singer machine into the cover. 10 copies. Made for the London Zine Symposium 2010.
Give me the Balance Printed text and drawings on graphpaper. Binding: sown on singer machine. Packaged in square brown envelopes. 50 copies made. Personal account of life working in an Irish bank. Copyright 2010.
Twenty Ten A per-zine reflecting on happy memories and experiences in my life during 2010. Handmade zine, lino print cover, butterfly inside, colour printed pages of collages and stories with a sown binding. 12 copies.
Fortune Cookie Zine A handmade fortune cookie with a one page zine on how to make your own! 20 made in Batch #1. Made for the Dublin Zine Fair 2012.
Forgotten Tea Party A per-zine capturing thirty days of summer through drawings and writings.
In June 2012 I challenged myself to draw a picture every day for a month. This zine is the result! Card cover, photocopied pages, staple bound. 40 copies made. 2012.
Nostalgia Summer An experimental art and photography zine. It contains art/photography techniques, experiments and results. This issue #1 "Summer" features photo transfer experiments, different embroidery stitches, how to make digital polaroids, found objects, a photo project documenting a trip to Blackpool, a feature on an artist from history: Eadweard Muybridges, a map of the stars in summer, bookbinding techniques! Colour printed with twine binding. 50 copies made. 2011.
Nostalgia Autumn An experimental art and photography zine.This issue #2 "Autumn" features photo emulsion darkroom experiments, an article about letterboxing, how to simulate analogue photos on your smart phone, a personal account of pet fostering, letters from Letterbox Dublin project, a feature on artists from history -this issue features the Lumiere Brothers, a map of the stars in autumn & Irish Halloween traditions. Colour printed with twine binding. 100 copies made. 2012.
Dime Zine A monthly magazine I produced for six months along side DimeStore Recordings. It was available to buy for ten cent in Sweeneys on Dame Street, The Grand Social on Liffey Street and Music Maker on Exchequer Street. The idea was to make a monthly zine that reflected and supported the vibrant and passionate creative goings on in Dublin at the time of publication and to give local artists, musicians, poets and writers a platform for their work.
Death of the Letterpress Three unique artist books made during a workshop National Print Museum. Prints/rubbings were taken of the print plates, letters and images on the old presses. Accordian binding with cardboard covers. 2011.
Bio Zine A7 size zine. Made from one A4 page. Includes illustrations and a short biography of my life so far, such as qualifications, art projects and stuff I like! 8 pages.
Mary Wishing Tree This zine shows a selection of the thousands of wishings hung on the wishing tree at Electric Picnic Music and Arts Festival 2011 as part of Rosita Sweetman's project "Something About Mary". Some of the wishes are inspiring, some heartbreaking and others are hilarious! 2012.

Mother India Handmade zine of colour photos and travel writing about my trip around India. Photo on card cover, hand-bound with orange thread. Colour photos and text. 10 copies made. Copyright 2013.
Grimm A zine I made for the Berlin Zine Fest about the lives of the Brothers Grimm. It is in English and German and is illustrated by linocut prints. Printed on cream card and bound with twine. Twenty Copies made.
Love Lomo This handmade book contains photos taken on lomography cameras by ten different photographers. The images are partnered with a write up by each artist about how they discovered lomo photography and why they love it. Each cover is embossed & drawn by hand. The pages are sown into the cover by hand. The book was made to accompany the Love Lomo photography exhibition held in Dublin in April 2012. Only 48 copies of this artist book were made.
Prelude Handmade zine of colour photos and diary entries from my childhood and teens printed on tracing paper. Purple card cover, hand-bound with mint thread. 6 copies made in first edition.4 copies made in 2nd edition. Copyright 2014.
Letterbox Dublin A zine of letters from the Letterbox Dublin Project. Brown card cover, cream paper, green thread, hand sown binding, cover printed with a handcarved stamp. Copyright 2015. Two Editions of 25.
Project Sheela IWD 2020 Project Sheela is a street art project founded by two Dublin based artists to celebrate the history of women's rights and female sexuality in Ireland. The first event happened in 2020 on International Women's Day, and is documented in this zine. Showing all 16 sheela locations & the story behind them. Each zine has a handprinted sheela on the cover, a handprinted vulva inside cover & is hand bound with green twine. Just 10 of these in existence and all are numbered & signed.
Project Sheela Zine 2021 Each year we document the project in a handmade zine. This year we risoprinted the pages with Damn Fine Print then cropped, folded and stuck them into this fun foldable bind. 20 copies made, each one signed, numbered and stamped.
Project Sheela Zine 2022 It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
