Subvertising refers to the process of subverting advertisements to spoof, parody, satirize and flip the meaning of messages found in commercial advertising.
I designed a label to resemble a sale sticker in a popular pharmacy as a public intervention. The sticker was placed inside said pharmacy in the contraception and fertility aisle. The stickers were an awareness project in favour of the repealing the 8th amendment and to remind citizens to register to vote. Although the sticker was placed in just one shop, the online reaction was where the real impact took place. The post reached 19,406 people and was shared 64 times in just 2 days. The actual sticker probably ended up in the bin within a few minutes, but the real conversation started online. Here you can see the sticker design, it on location and some screenshots of just some of the conversations the piece sparked.
